#HopeFromHome

The mission of the Lustgarten foundation is to advance the scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of pancreatic cancer.  This is done with funding for research support, facilitating dialogue among its members and the scientific community, and heightening public awareness of pancreatic cancer.  Few charities operate like the Lustgarten Foundation with 100% of every donation going directly to the research of the disease.  While pancreatic cancer accounts for only about 3% of cancer diagnoses, it is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths.  There are an average of 280,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer every single year, and the survival rate is only 3-6%.  Pancreatic cancer is chronically underfunded and unfortunately the survival rates haven’t improved in almost 50 years.

In addition to the stagnant survival statistics, this disease hits close to home for many of us in AZO.  A number of Fraters and family members have lost their lives to the disease, including Dr. Jeffrey M. Levy, Donald Langan Sr, Rose Cimino, June Erpenbeck, David Behme, Larry Weber Sr, and Dr. Albert J. Puccia.  In remembrance of those lost and currently affected by the disease, we ask for your support by way of a donation. No amount is too little and 100% of donations go directly to Pancreatic Cancer.

Thank you for your support of the Lustagarten Foundation and for making great and generous contributions on behalf of Alpha Zeta Omega.
